ALI AKBAR SADEGHI

Calligraphorm

In this collection the artist undoubtedly inspired by Persian calligraphy in which fluid motion of cursive Nas’taliq technique transformed into natural species, one forms bird flock and the other takes the shape of weaving horses waiting to be freed from the canvas. In such linguistic and metaphorical transition the cross boundary between what is calligraphy as a literal sense and what is painting is completely emerged to a singular entity.

In this collection Ali Akbar Sadeghi Trans-mutates and deforms lettering to the new form of composition. There is a companionship of calligraphy and visual narrative that embellishes the literal meaning of calligraphy.

The dancing butterflies, weaving horses and flying birds lettering from the forceful twisted brushwork appear like celestial species confronting infinite Galaxia organization. Thus the total effect of the paintings are the portrayal of the interactive spirituality of what is known as Persian calligraphy into symbolic characters of his paintings.
